From the Classroom to Business: When Entrepreneurship Comes to Life

P1001023 Enhanced NR | From the Classroom to Business: When Entrepreneurship Comes to Life

What does entrepreneurship look like when it’s not taught from a textbook but experienced in real life? That was the main focus of the panel discussion titled “From the Classroom to Business”, which took place at the Entrepreneurship Academy in Frýdek-Místek. The event was organized in cooperation with Patrioti MSK and the Moravian-Silesian Technology Academy, demonstrating that supporting entrepreneurship firmly belongs in schools.

Authentic Stories from Students and Young Entrepreneurs

The discussion highlighted real-life experiences of young people who began developing their own ideas while still in school. On stage were students and graduates from school-based companies, such as Studentský DRIP and CLOTHINK, who shared their journeys — from initial concepts, through challenges, to the real-world impact of their ventures.

Also featured were David Firla and Kryštof Skokan, the newest Czech representatives at the prestigious EuroSkills 2025 competition in Herning, Denmark, where they competed in the Entrepreneurship category. Their story offered clear inspiration on how combining education with personal growth can lead to building one’s own path.

Entrepreneurship as a Teachable Skill

The discussion made it clear that entrepreneurship isn’t a privilege for a select few — it’s a skill that can be actively developed, even at the secondary school level. Participants particularly appreciated the role of student-led companies, which give young people hands-on experience in teamwork, accountability, problem-solving, and practical aspects like finance and marketing.

Equally valuable was the involvement of mentoring professionals, who are committed to bridging the gap between education and the business world. This blend of school support and real-world practice helps students grow not only as future professionals but also as proactive individuals capable of taking initiative.

Inspiration Across Generations

The atmosphere was perfectly captured by the presence of students and coordinators from partner schools in Havířov, Opava, and Ostrava, who came to Frýdek-Místek in search of inspiration. This intergenerational and interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and experiences was the most powerful aspect of the entire event.

Numerous motivational insights were shared, resonating not only with aspiring young entrepreneurs but also with seasoned business professionals. Sharing knowledge across generations remains one of the most effective ways to give entrepreneurship a strong and practical role in the school environment.

What’s Next?

The Moravian-Silesian Technology Academy sees events like this as a vital part of its mission — to modernize vocational education and bring topics into schools that prepare students for the real world.

We extend our thanks to everyone who took part in the discussion and look forward to more projects that transform classrooms into incubators of new ideas.
