How can we prepare students for the technologies that are transforming the automotive industry, healthcare, and industrial design? We seek inspiration directly from the companies that use these technologies every day and bring that knowledge into classrooms through EduBoxes.

With this goal in mind, a group of 11 vocational teachers and members of the Engineering EduBox development team visited MCAE Systems in Kuřim, one of the Czech Republic’s leading companies in additive manufacturing, 3D printing, and reverse engineering.

Technologies That Push the Boundaries of Innovation

The visit was led by Kristián Vaněk, who introduced participants to the wide range of technologies used at MCAE Systems. The focus was not only on the machines themselves but, more importantly, on how these technologies are applied in real-world practice—from the automotive and engineering industries to healthcare.

Particular attention was given to PolyJet technology, which enables simultaneous printing with multiple materials. This makes it possible to produce models with varying levels of hardness, transparency, and flexibility, accurately simulating the properties of human tissues, bones, and organs.

Participants had the opportunity to examine anatomical models used by surgeons for pre-operative planning, as well as dental applications that demonstrate the growing importance of additive manufacturing in modern healthcare.

From Design to the Finished Product

The programme also included a tour of the company’s production facilities, where participants gained insight into the complete manufacturing process—from 3D scanning and reverse engineering to production using state-of-the-art industrial 3D printers.

Representatives of MCAE Systems showcased various printing technologies, material options, and practical examples of their use in manufacturing prototypes, design models, and functional components for industrial applications.

Inspiration for Modern Education

Connecting schools with innovative companies enables us to develop EduBoxes that are based not only on theory but also on real industrial experience. As a result, teachers can work with the latest technologies, while students gain a deeper understanding of the skills they will need in their future careers.
