How can schools prepare students for technologies that will become a routine part of their professional lives in just a few years? It is not enough to simply teach about them. Students need the opportunity to experience these technologies firsthand, understand how they work, and learn to use them in practice.
This is exactly the approach taken by the Secondary Technical School in Jeseník, which officially unveiled its 5G Drone Center on 30 June. Funded through the National Recovery Plan, the project demonstrates that modern vocational education is built not only on excellent teachers but also on cutting-edge technologies and close cooperation with industry.
Technologies That Are Transforming Education
The goal of the project is not simply to equip school laboratories with modern technology. Its true purpose is to create an environment where students can learn to use these technologies in real-world situations.
The new center combines 5G mobile networks, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), data analytics tools, and smart building technologies. This will enable students to develop practical skills in programming, data analysis, automation, and the management of advanced technological systems.
An additional benefit is that the equipment will not be used solely during regular lessons. The school also plans to make it available for extracurricular clubs and other educational activities outside the classroom.
From Energy Management to Aerial Mapping
The official launch included practical demonstrations of the technologies that will become part of the school’s educational program.
Visitors were introduced to an energy management system as well as several types of professional drones designed for a wide range of applications, including aerial mapping and inspection tasks.
An Inspiration for Other Schools
In addition to showcasing the technologies themselves, the event provided an opportunity for professional discussions on how these tools can be effectively integrated into education and how the project can remain sustainable in the long term.
Initiatives like this illustrate the direction in which vocational education is evolving. Modern teaching is no longer based solely on textbooks; it increasingly depends on giving students hands-on experience with the technologies they will use throughout their future careers.
