What does entrepreneurship look like through the eyes of secondary school students? Sometimes surprisingly realistic, sometimes bold and visionary. Yet all the projects have one thing in common – they show that young people are capable of developing ideas that respond to both the needs of today’s society and the challenges of the future.
The “Our Companies” project days, organized by the Entrepreneurship Team of the Moravian-Silesian Technological Academy, continued through the end of the school year. Over several days, our mentors visited schools in Frýdek-Místek and Ostrava, once again confirming that entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well among students.
From Prefabricated Houses to Plumbing Businesses
At the beginning of June, the entrepreneurship team visited the Secondary School of Crafts in Frýdek-Místek, where students took on a variety of entrepreneurial challenges.
One team created NEMESISS, a construction company offering turnkey prefabricated homes for customers in the Moravian-Silesian Region. Another developed Vercaik.cz, a network of tool sales and rental stores, while Papryk S.T.R.specialized in plumbing services, repairs, and emergency maintenance.
It was particularly interesting to see how naturally vocational students were able to combine their technical expertise with entrepreneurial thinking.
Electric Mobility, Robots, and Wilderness Survival
At SPŠEI Ostrava, the projects focused heavily on technology and innovation.
The HOT WHEELS team introduced a concept of electric go-karts with energy recovery systems, combining entertainment with an environmentally friendly approach. Clean Company designed a fully autonomous robotic vacuum cleaner capable of operating independently without user intervention.
A sense of adventure was brought by the project “Disappearing Abroad”, which focused on producing specialized survival kits for nature enthusiasts, campers, and outdoor adventurers.
Dream Computers and Robots for Every Home
A project day at the Secondary Vocational School in Frýdek-Místek demonstrated just how closely today’s students are connected to modern technologies.
TECHNISION PC COMPANY offered custom-built and serviced high-performance computers, particularly for gamers and demanding users. The Clean Force team developed robotic vacuum cleaners made primarily from recycled materials and incorporated an educational element by teaching children about cleaning through play.
The most comprehensive solution came from the APEX team, which designed multifunctional household robots capable of cleaning, mowing lawns, and maintaining swimming pools. Their slogan, “You live, we work,” perfectly captured the essence of the entire project.
Entrepreneurship as a Skill for the Future
The “Our Companies” project days are not about finding the right answer. They are about discovering individual paths, fostering collaboration, encouraging creativity, and developing the courage to think differently.
Over the course of just a few hours, students experience a process similar to that faced by real entrepreneurs—from generating an idea and identifying customers to presenting their final solution. These experiences help develop essential skills that will benefit them not only in their future careers but throughout their lives.
