First Meeting of Automation and Robotics EduBox Teams: Connecting Education with Industry
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (FEI) at VŠB-TUO hosted the very first meeting of the Automation and Robotics EduBox teams, vocational teachers, and company representatives. The main goal was to bridge education and industry and discuss how to jointly innovate vocational education to better reflect the needs of modern industry.
A Shared Goal: Strong Technical Education in the Region
The meeting was opened by Jan Meca, Chairman of the MTA Board, Jan Veřmiřovský, Deputy Governor of the Moravian-Silesian Region for Education and Sport, and Jan Platoš, Dean of FEI VŠB-TUO. In their opening remarks, they all agreed:
“Schools must prepare students for future technical processes, and our shared ambition is to create conditions for the continuous innovation of technical education.”
Deputy Governor Veřmiřovský emphasized the importance of such meetings:
“We must focus on the quality of vocational education and strengthen the connection between schools and companies. This meeting is exactly the place where concrete steps for the future are born.”
EduBoxes: The Path to Modern Teaching
The program featured presentations from both teams:
• Zdeněk Macháček, head of the Automation team, introduced the vision for gradually expanding the EduBoxes with new modules and presented the concept of the “EduLink” – a simple teaching tool designed to help students better understand automation processes.
• Václav Krys, head of the Robotics team, shared plans to further develop robotic EduBoxes and intensify cooperation with industrial partners.

Industry Ready to Participate
Representatives from ABB Robotics, ELVAC, and Schaeffler joined the discussion, expressing strong interest in actively contributing to the creation and testing of EduBoxes. Companies offered to share know-how, technologies, and provide excursions for students and teachers.
Strong Discussion and Clear Outcomes
The meeting concluded with a lively discussion among all participants. Schools and companies jointly explored the most effective ways to innovate education quickly and meaningfully, ensuring that students gain skills applicable in real-world practice.
The meeting demonstrated the strong will of everyone involved to reshape vocational education so that it meets the realities of 21st-century industry. The Moravian-Silesian Technological Academy (MTA) will continue to develop this collaboration to ensure technical education keeps pace with industrial changes.
