P1010952 | Round Table on Healthcare and Agriculture: New Areas, New Challenges for Vocational Education

The first round table of this year, focused on the newly developing fields of healthcare and agriculture, took place at the Secondary Medical School in Opava.

The opening remarks were delivered by the Deputy Governor for Education, Youth and Sports, Jan Veřmiřovský, together with the Director of the Moravian-Silesian Technological Academy, Jan Meca. The meeting was also complemented by the head of the host school, Monika Gebauerová, who welcomed participants and highlighted the importance of such expert discussions for the further development of education.

Healthcare: Responding to Current Needs of Practice

The first block focused on healthcare and was opened by team leader Lenka Rychlá. The discussion addressed current challenges in healthcare education and explored ways to effectively respond to them.

Participants were introduced to the reasons for joining the activities of the Moravian-Silesian Technological Academy, as well as concrete examples of how EduBoxes can be used in teaching. An important part of the program was also the presentation of the SPIS program, delivered by Petra Nevřelová from the Silesian Hospital in Opava, who highlighted support for future healthcare professionals and the importance of connecting schools with clinical practice.

Agriculture: Technology as a Key Driver

The second block was opened by the head of the agriculture team, Nicola Schramm, who presented the results of an analysis of the needs of both schools and industry. The findings showed a growing need for modernization in education and greater integration of technology in this field.

This was followed by presentations focused on innovation in agriculture. Jan Jedlička introduced modern approaches and technologies shaping the sector, and another part of the program focused on the use of drones and aerial monitoring in agriculture as tools for more efficient work and decision-making.

Shared Discussion as the Foundation for Change

The event concluded with an open discussion, allowing participants to share experiences, needs, and concrete proposals for further development. Meetings like this demonstrate that innovation in education does not arise in isolation, but through dialogue between schools, experts, and industry representatives.

The round table also confirmed that the development of new focus areas within the Moravian-Silesian Technological Academy is meaningful. Both healthcare and agriculture are key sectors where the quality of education will be crucial for the future functioning of society.
