In mid-June, Mendel Secondary School in Nový Jičín hosted the very first pilot lesson of the AI EduBox, developed by the Moravian-Silesian Technology Academy team. The school once again confirmed its reputation as a leader in modern education – it is one of the few schools in the Czech Republic that has a long-term collaboration with Google. Thanks to this partnership, both students and teachers have access to cutting-edge digital tools and up-to-date information.
Two Days, Two Focus Areas, One Common Theme: Artificial Intelligence
The Tuesday session was dedicated to students of the Information Technology program. Through an interactive game, they explored the principles behind language models – the technology at the core of today’s AI tools. The playful format helped them understand how artificial intelligence “thinks” and how it can be effectively used in software development or digital services.
The Thursday session targeted students in public administration and humanities fields. Discussions focused on the everyday applications of artificial intelligence – from automating routine tasks to the ethical dilemmas related to its use in media, administration, and the public sector.
Positive Feedback and Motivation to Continue
Both sessions received highly positive feedback from students, teachers, and school leadership. The lessons not only captured the students’ interest but also sparked many questions and suggestions for expanding AI-related topics. The school is already considering extending the use of EduBox AI to other fields of study and year levels.
EduBox AI: A Step Toward Digital Literacy of the Future
This pilot lesson highlights the importance of systematically developing digital and data literacy already during secondary education. Thanks to EduBox, teachers and students gain access to clear materials, practical assignments, and inspiring content that connects technology, creativity, and critical thinking.
