Sparked Creativity and Entrepreneurial Spirit in First-Year Students

At the end of April, the “Our Companies” project came to life once again—this time through visits to two secondary schools in the Moravian-Silesian Region. Our mentors traveled to the Secondary School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics on Kratochvílova Street in Ostrava and the Secondary School of Business and Services in Frýdek-Místek, where new business-themed project days kicked off.

This time, first-year students took part in the program. For many of them, it was not only their first encounter with entrepreneurial thinking but also a unique opportunity to discover their abilities in teamwork, creativity, and practical decision-making. Through a simulation game, they created their own entrepreneurial teams and began designing products with real-world impact.

What ideas did the students come up with?

Students split into smaller teams and dove into the development of these innovative business concepts:

• Tool production for forestry – reimagining a traditional craft with a focus on efficiency and safety.

• Simple touchscreen phones for seniors – helping older generations navigate modern technology more easily.

• Smart Pen – an intelligent pen that highlights mistakes while writing and helps improve written expression.

• Neurochips for people with brain disorders – a bold tech concept bridging IT and healthcare to support people with cognitive limitations.

A Practical Learning Experience

In addition to being fun, the project day offered a strong educational dimension. Students learned how a company works—from idea to presentation—and personally tried out roles in leadership, marketing, and product development. The experience helped them better understand what excites them, where they excel, and how they might want to shape their future careers.

These project days are a vital part of fostering entrepreneurship. They teach students to think in context, see problems as opportunities, and build skills that are essential for the job market. And that’s exactly what we aim for at the Moravian-Silesian Technological Academy.

We look forward to meeting more student teams and seeing their fresh, inventive ideas—proof that creativity and entrepreneurial spirit are alive and well among today’s youth.
