Vocational education in 2025 is once again taking on a European dimension. The prestigious EuroSkills competition, often dubbed the “Olympics of skills,” will welcome more than 700 competitors from 33 countries this September in Herning, Denmark. The Czech Republic will be represented by 14 young professionals across 11 competition categories – and Moravian-Silesian Technological Academy will be part of it.
Czech Representation: From Mechatronics to Entrepreneurship
The Czech team will compete in fields such as CNC milling, tiling, web design, mechatronics, and also in new categories like Industry 4.0 and Entrepreneurship. The latter has seen a rapid rise in recent years – and this year, two inspiring competitors will represent Czechia:
- David Firla from the Secondary School of Civil Engineering in Havířov, whose project combines experience from the construction sector with activities in non-profit organizations.
- Kryštof Skokan, also a student at the same school, entered the field through a school project and quickly began developing his own initiatives in the service sector.
Both young competitors went through a series of specialized preparations and workshops, organized in part by the Moravian-Silesian Technological Academy. The academy will also be personally represented on-site by Sylva Sládečková, a long-standing entrepreneurship mentor and expert consultant within school-based entrepreneurial centers.
EuroSkills: A Competition That Changes Perception of Skills
Held every two years, EuroSkills aims to spotlight technical and vocational professions while linking them to innovation, entrepreneurship, and modern approaches. This year’s edition will feature 38 disciplines, and the Herning Congress Center expects tens of thousands of visitors.
What Does the Chamber of Commerce Say?
At the official launch of the Czech delegation, President of the Czech Chamber of Commerce Zdeněk Zajíček stated:
MTA and Entrepreneurship: Our Journey Doesn’t End
Fostering entrepreneurship at secondary schools is one of the key pillars of the Moravian-Silesian Technological Academy. We are proud that our graduates and mentors are becoming part of the international story of vocational education.
The participation of David Firla, Kryštof Skokan, and Sylva Sládečková in EuroSkills 2025 confirms that entrepreneurship has a rightful place in the Czech educational system. We are proud to be part of this story – and excited to see where the journey takes us next.
