How do we prepare young people for a world where they will need to come up with their own ideas, collaborate with others, and take responsibility? Talking about entrepreneurship is not enough. Students need the opportunity to experience it firsthand.
This is the principle behind the Our Companies project days, which the Moravian-Silesian Technology Academy has been delivering at secondary schools for several years. The 2025/2026 school year confirmed that experiential learning is one of the most effective ways to develop an entrepreneurial mindset—something traditional classroom teaching alone cannot achieve.
A Year Full of Ideas, Collaboration, and Inspiration
Throughout the school year, a total of 27 project days were held, involving 565 students from 14 secondary schoolsacross the Moravian-Silesian Region.
In addition to the nine schools that have been long-term partners, five new secondary schools joined the programme this year. This growing interest demonstrates that schools are increasingly looking for modern ways to develop not only students’ technical knowledge but also the competencies they will need in their future careers.
From the First Idea to a Business Story
The Our Companies project days are not about theory or memorising economic terminology. Instead, students spend a day creating their own companies, identifying customers, designing products, developing marketing strategies, and pitching their business ideas.
The projects often stand out for their creativity and social impact. Among this year’s most inspiring ideas were robotic guide dogs for visually impaired people, a survival kit for outdoor enthusiasts, and SafetyShield, a project focused on protecting sea turtles through modern technology.
These examples demonstrate that entrepreneurship is not only about financial success—it can also provide solutions to real-world challenges and create a positive impact on society.
Students Confirm That Modern Learning Works
The most valuable feedback comes from the students themselves. Eighty-four percent of participants rated the project days positively. They particularly appreciated the emphasis on teamwork, hands-on experience, creativity, and the opportunity to learn in a way that differs from traditional classroom instruction.
Many students also stated that they expect to use the skills they acquired not only in their further studies but also in their future careers or entrepreneurial ventures.

Today’s employers are looking for people who can think critically, communicate effectively, collaborate with others, and develop innovative solutions. These are exactly the skills fostered by the Our Companies project days, which combine entrepreneurship, creativity, and practical experience.
