A big day for vocational education and technological innovation. The Moravian-Silesian Technological Academy has won 1st place in the Smart Cities 2025 competition in the category Education and Innovation with its EduBox project.

This achievement confirms that connecting schools, technologies, and real-world practice is not only meaningful but also powerful enough to transform the vocational education system throughout the Czech Republic.

Award-Winning Project: EduBoxes as a Path to Modern Education

The TPA (Technological-Pedagogical Academy) project represents a comprehensive approach to modernizing teaching. At its core are EduBoxes®—educational modules that combine:

  • Online content,
  • Real industrial data,
  • Interactive tasks to develop technical and entrepreneurial skills.

The aim is to provide schools with access to innovative tools without the need for large investments—and to do so nationwide. By 2027, over 700 EduBoxes will be created and made freely available to all schools.

Award Ceremony: Recognition from the Expert Community

The official award ceremony took place on November 25, 2025, at the Impact Hub Prague.

The Smart Cities competition is held under the patronage of several ministries and features dozens of innovative projects from across the Czech Republic. This year, 93 projects competed across eight categories.

The award was accepted by MTA’s Technical Director, Milan Zdvyhal, from the hands of Ludmila Třeštíková from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, who emphasized the importance of innovation in education and MTA’s contribution to systemic changes in the field.

More Than an Award: A Commitment to Continued Work

This recognition is not only a validation of MTA’s direction but also a commitment for the future.

Vocational education faces new challenges and needs tools that can quickly adapt to changes in industry, the job market, and society. TPA and EduBoxes offer a solution with the potential to transform the system from within—through modernizing teaching, supporting teachers, and involving the business sector directly.

Thanks to Our Partners
