The campus of the Secondary School of Crafts in Frýdek-Místek recently hosted an event titled Crafts Day & Erasmus Day, offering visitors a unique combination of modern technologies and traditional craftsmanship. The morning program was dedicated to students, while the afternoon was open to the general public.

Electromobility Takes Center Stage

A key part of the event was the presentation by the Future Mobility team from the Moravian-Silesian Technology Academy (MTA), which showcased the Dacia Spring electric car, used in teaching electromobility. The public showed great interest – most questions focused on how electric vehicle work, what driving an electric vehicle feels like, and the technical specifications of the car. Visitors had the chance to see the vehicle up close and confirm that electromobility is already an integral part of vocational education.

Traditional Crafts and Interactive Experiences

In addition to electromobility, visitors could explore a variety of traditional crafts. The event featured artistic blacksmiths, weavers, plumbers, as well as 3D printing demonstrations and presentations from the Heřmanice prison service, including practical working dog training. Most of the stations were interactive, allowing visitors to try out the crafts themselves.

Great Atmosphere and Support for Technical Education

The entire day unfolded in a very positive and friendly atmosphere. The event also included a DJ-hosted programrefreshments, and plenty of engaging conversations between teachers, students, professionals, and members of the public.

The event clearly demonstrated that the combination of modern technologies and traditional crafts has a strong place in vocational education—and that events like this help students discover new fields, shape their interests, and find pathways to future careers.
