How can students be prepared for a world where automation is becoming an integral part of more and more industrial sectors? What technologies are companies actually using today, and how can these technologies be effectively integrated into teaching?

These were the key questions explored during the latest edition of the Automation Teachers’ Cabinet, held on 17 June 2026 at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (FEI), VSB–Technical University of Ostrava. The professional workshop brought together teachers, industry experts, and university representatives to discuss the future of technical education.

When Schools Hear Directly from Industry

The event opened with a welcome from the leadership of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, a long-standing key partner of the Moravian-Silesian Technological Academy in the field of technical education.

Representatives from the business sector then took the floor. ELVAC presented current expectations for graduates of technical disciplines and highlighted the competencies most sought after by employers today. Similarly, NC LINEemphasized that technological development is accelerating, and with it, the demands of the labor market continue to evolve.

One of the main messages of the event was that today’s graduates can no longer rely solely on the knowledge gained during their studies. The ability to learn continuously, adapt to change, and develop new competencies throughout one’s career is becoming just as important as technical expertise itself.

From Theory to Practical Teaching

The workshop was not limited to lectures. Its primary goal was to provide teachers with practical inspiration and showcase technologies that can be directly applied in the classroom.

Participants took part in hands-on workshops focused on:

  • Sensor technology
  • Algorithm design and programming logic
  • Pneumatic systems
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)

The PLC workshop proved to be one of the most popular parts of the program, confirming the growing interest in automation education at secondary schools.

Modern Education for Modern Industry

The Automation Teachers’ Cabinet once again demonstrated the importance of connecting schools with industry and universities. Only through continuous knowledge sharing can teachers keep pace with technological advancements and prepare students for a professional world that is constantly evolving.

Events like this help fulfill one of the core missions of the Moravian-Silesian Technological Academy: bringing modern technologies, up-to-date know-how, and practical inspiration directly into vocational education.
