The Investment and Technological Giant from Rožnov is Ready to Collaborate with Us

On May 10, 2024, a significant meeting was held thanks to the organization and participation of Mr. Richard Štěpán, the Director of the Gymnasium and Secondary Industrial School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. The meeting involved representatives from MTA, accompanied by colleagues from the Education Department of the Regional Office (namely its head Mr. Daniel Cinař and his colleague Mr. Roman Kuběna), and ON SEMICONDUCTOR CZECH REPUBLIC.

The meeting focused on deepening the collaboration between secondary schools and the industrial sector with an emphasis on technical education. Representatives from MTA, led by CEO Jan Meca, presented our technology academy and the TPA project, highlighting the need for innovations in education, particularly in teaching modern technologies through the creation of modern educational modules – EduBoxes. On-site, the company representatives were offered the opportunity to collaborate on their development and practical implementation.

Mr. Aleš Cáb, General Director of ONSEMI Production, emphasized the importance of cooperation with universities and secondary schools and the growing need for technically educated workers. According to Mrs. Klára Konvičná, EMEA Staffing Manager, and her colleagues, the company is currently preparing to hire up to a thousand new employees as part of its planned investment development.

Mr. Radek Václavík, the Director of the ONSEMI Design Center, expressed interest in bringing basic concepts of semiconductor and chip manufacturing into secondary school curricula, which could increase students’ interest in technical fields. During the meeting, issues such as gender balance in technical fields were also discussed, pointing to examples of successful models from abroad.

A big thank you goes to Mr. Richard Štěpán for facilitating this key meeting, which opens up new opportunities for collaboration and the development of technical education beyond our region.

This activity is funded under the project TPA – Innovation Centre for Transformation of Education CZ.10.03.01/00/22_003/0000072.

We look forward to further cooperation.
