Teamwork, creativity, and innovation – these are the key skills that will represent the Czech Republic at the European vocational skills championship EuroSkills 2025, taking place in September in Herning, Denmark. Among the 14 competitors officially announced by the Czech Chamber of Commerce is a duo of young talents who will compete in the Entrepreneurship category.

EuroSkills is the largest European competition for vocational students and apprentices. This year’s edition will host nearly 700 participants from 33 countries, competing in 38 disciplines, ranging from technical and craft trades to creative and business-oriented fields.

Czechs Betting on Entrepreneurial Talent

The Entrepreneurship category is not just about writing a business plan. Participants work under pressure for several days, designing products or services, solving marketing, finance, and sustainability challenges – all in English, on an international stage, and under a tight deadline.

Representing the Czech Republic in this demanding discipline are Matouš Vávra and Šimon Sagan – two students who have previously succeeded in national competitions like CzechSkills and have undergone intensive preparation led by entrepreneurs, mentors, and business coaches. Their strengths lie not only in their understanding of business processes, but also in their presentation skills and teamwork, developed through workshops, business camps, and training sessions, such as those held at Validation Camp.

The Road to Herning Begins with Hard Work

“Nothing ever came to me easily; every success has cost me the hardest work,” echoed through Brožík Hall at Prague’s Old Town Hall during the ceremonial launch of the Czech team, where Chamber President Zdeněk Zajíček welcomed the competitors. This quote from Tomáš Baťa accompanies the participants as a reminder that entrepreneurship is not about shortcuts – it’s about perseverance, ideas, and responsibility.

That is also the guiding philosophy behind entrepreneurship education at secondary schools: we don’t aim to turn every student into a business owner, but we want every student to think entrepreneurially. To be able to face challenges, design solutions, and confidently defend their ideas – these are skills that will serve students in any career.

EuroSkills: More Than a Competition

EuroSkills is not just a contest – it is a personal and professional milestone. Beyond the prestige, it offers access to professional networks, job opportunities, and self-development. The importance of the event is underlined by the interest of media, institutions, and industry leaders. Organizers expect up to 100,000 visitors, hundreds of international delegations, and support from top-level officials across Europe.

Moravskoslezská Technologická Akademie (MTA) will also leave its mark on the event, as Sylva Sládečková will serve as an official expert judge in the Entrepreneurship category.

MTA has long been committed to promoting entrepreneurial education in secondary schools and is actively involved in preparing students for competitions like EuroSkills. We believe entrepreneurial students are key to the Czech Republic’s competitiveness. Our representatives at EuroSkills 2025 are proof that young people are ready to change the world – and we are proud to support them on that journey!
